re: Welcome to HoP! New to the kin? Please read...

First of all welcome to House of Play! We are looking forward to getting to know you.

This page is designed to get you up to speed quickly on how House of Play (affectionately known as 'HoP',) runs and governs itself. In a short, pithy way.

Website

This website is our main method of communication outside the game. We use it to exchange experiences, tactics, socialize, share photos/videos/files, plan and announce events, and handle kinship affairs including voting. Therefore, it is highly encouraged that you check the website regularly.

Events

There will be regular events organized by the officers, (particularly the Events/RAID Officer.) These can include instances, raiding, fun runs (chicken play, running for deeds/titles,) and RP events, Monthly Council Meetings, and other events, as requested by kin members. These events will be scheduled on the Calendar and any recruit/kin member may sign up and attend if they choose.

Any kin member is also welcome and encouraged to create their own event, outside of officer-scheduled ones. Please check the Kin Events forum for details on how to suggest an event or organize one of your own, using the tools on this website. (CONTENT COMING)

Events are always optional, but as a recruit, particularly, it is highly recommended you try to join as many as you can as they are great opportunities to get to know your kinfolk!

Kinship Rules and Structure

In the Administration Forum, you can find all the information you need regarding the HoP Constitution, official rules and names of standing Council Members and descriptions of their positions.

In a nutshell, the kinship has a Leader, Deputy Leader, and officers, which make up the Council. We hold elections every 6 months to elect these positions. There are no 'term limits', but holders of these positions must run anew during each election period.

The Council has monthly meetings during which they make decisions on behalf of the kinship. Large issues will be taken to the entire Kinship and decided upon during the next scheduled election. These meetings are open for anyone in the kinship to attend. if they wish, but attendance is only expected of Council Members.

Meeting minutes will be posted within a week of the meeting, in our public Administration forum, for all members to peruse at their leisure. Please feel free to bring any issues you'd like to discuss to these meetings. (We also welcome fireworks. And food. Please note that, if you attend, drinking from the Dire Keg at the end of the meeting is strictly voluntary, though peer pressure may be applied.)

Alts

Members are free to invite as many alts as they wish into the kinship. We understand that often players choose to belong to several kinships for RP or other reasons and we have no objection to this practice. Members who wish to become a part of the HoP Council and who have alts in other social kinships, however, we ask that you please speak to the current HoP Leader before announcing your candidacy.

Recruitment Period

A new initiate will be a recruit until a minimum of 2 weeks has elapsed. We do this for mutual benefit... to make sure that the kinship and the individual are getting what they want/need from the relationship. The difference between a full kin member and a recruit is minimal - a recruit is encouraged and welcome to fully participate in any kin events/runs without exception during their recruitment period. Access to Kinhouse chests, as well as voting in kinship elections, is restricted to kin members. An officer should check in with you at promotion time, to get your feedback on the kinship and make sure you are happy here in HoP.

Note!

In order to help us keep track of which-alts-belong-to-whom and to help others remember the name you would like to be called, we ask that you add an in-game 'note' for every character that you bring into the kinship. This note should be consistent between your alts, so as to make them easily identifiable. (E.G., Flamenca's note reads "Main - Flame" whereas her alts' notes read "Alt of Flame" or similar.) Any character without a note will not be promoted from Recruit to Kinmember. Please ask if you are not sure how to add a note for your characters.

The Final Word

If you have any questions, suggestions, or just wish to play devil's advocate - please don't hesitate to approach a Council Member. As a new kinship, governing ourselves in a unique way within this game we love, we are growing and learning. We welcome your questions/thoughts/suggestions at any time and encourage you to let your voice be heard.
